June 2013

June was the second month of my newly reinvigorated "Todd's Results" program with both “Routine” and “Substantive” projects. In our recent meeting, my Accountability Partners said two things that really stood out:
- I met all their expectations for June – so, green check marks all around!
- While the new format and content seem to be working well, the timing is not.
So, with some hesitation from this long-time, over-the-top Achiever, I have grudgingly accepted the suggestion of my Accountability Partners – Put "Todd’s Results" on sabbatical for a while.
Because of the incredible benefits I have gotten from this program, I was hesitant to drop things entirely, even if for just a few months. So, we agreed to a "lite" version of "Todd's Results" for at least the next three months, where ...
- Abbreviated tasks will be the norm.
- Everything will be verbal (nothing written).
- I’ll be getting green check marks just for keeping it “lite."
One thing about that last condition – I've been warned I will NOT get green check marks if I don't keep it "lite." To me, that will be a REAL challenge!
Lesson learned? Personal accountability, especially at the level I have practiced it for over 7 years through "Todd's Results," is VERY hard. While Accountability Partners (APs) provide accountability, and they usually challenge you to stretch and grow, the assignment may occasionally be "It's time to let up for a while." Over the years, I've learned to respect the decisions of my APs, so I am respecting, and accepting, this one as well.
